How To Heal Back Pain using FasterEFT Tapping

How To Heal Back Pain using FasterEFT Tapping

If you’re reading this, the odds are pretty high that you’re currently having some sort of back pain. An astounding 80% of all adults suffer from this debilitating problem. It's so common that an industry exists to treat it. In the U.S., about $90 billion is spent on back pain every year.

We won't even discuss the opioid crisis. It's tearing apart families and communities. It is often linked to back pain! Instead, let’s look at a few more statistics:

  • Low back pain is the single leading cause of disability worldwide, according to the Global Burden of Disease 2010.

  • Back pain is one of the most common reasons for missed work. In fact, back pain is the second most common reason for visits to the doctor’s office, outnumbered only by upper respiratory infections.

  • One-half of all working Americans admit to having back pain symptoms each year.

  • Experts estimate that as much as 80% of the population will experience a back problem at some time in their lives.

  • Most cases of back pain are mechanical or non-organic—meaning they are not caused by serious conditions such as inflammatory arthritis, infection, fracture, or cancer.

With so many people suffering, you might assume that back pain is just a part of life. In fact, your chiropractor, physical therapist, or GP may have even told you that. But if your back pain keeps coming back, it might be because it isn’t actually the problem. Instead, it may be a symptom of something else: emotional trauma.

Now, some people don’t like being told that their physical pain is caused by emotional trauma, but that doesn’t make it any less true. Even the Harvard Health Blog explores the importance of understanding the psychological factors that impact your pain and your brain.

Back Pain – Are You Making It Up?

Has a doctor ever accused you of making up pain? It happens, especially if you have chronic pain. Maybe the doctor thinks you’re trying to score pain pill, but you are truly in pain and just want relief. And being accused of faking it makes everything even worse.

That’s why we need to look at what pain really is:

Pain is “discomfort” and depending on the severity, it can be incapacitating. But what is the true nature of pain?

Let’s look at an injury. Say you sprained your ankle. It can be very painful and the obvious thing to do is to ask your physician to help you. But medical intervention is focused NOT on the pain itself but in the healing of the damaged tissues/bones/muscles. If you’re in a lot of pain, you will be prescribed pain killers or other medications to help ease the discomfort. But the main focus is healing the source of the pain.

But when it comes to back pain, there isn’t always an obvious source. That’s why many medical professionals are at a loss to do anything more than treating the pain.

The Psychological Cause of Pain

There has long been a debate as to what causes back pain and, unfortunately, many people aren’t taken seriously when they try to tell their doctors how they feel. People with chronic pain are often thought to exaggerate their symptoms, or worse, thought to be making up the pain. But as anyone who actually suffers from chronic pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, back pain, or chronic fatigue syndrome can tell you, it’s very real — whether or not their doctors believe it. When you’re suffering, you may wish you had made it up, because you’re tired of spending thousands of dollars trying to get rid of the pain.

Here’s the thing: the body’s pain generators and pain levels are difficult to understand, as they vary from one individual to another regardless of gender, ethnicity or age. That’s part of the reason doctors have such a hard time with diagnosing pain issues.

But there’s more to it. While there are occasionally underlying anatomical problems that are undetectable through tests and medical laboratory analysis, often the issue is something that resides within the deeper levels of consciousness.

That’s where FasterEFT comes in. In working with thousands of people with pain, we’ve come to understand that pain cannot exist without a mental source. When you feel an intense emotion, such as anger, joy, hatred, fear, anxiety, or shock, it immediately becomes trapped in the body.

That’s how memories are created.

An event happens that you witness, it causes an intense emotion of joy, and that causes that event to become a memory you look back on with fondness. For example, the day you got engaged, the birth of your child, your graduation, the day you received your first paycheck, the day you bought your first car, the day you opened your first business, and so on.

Emotional health depends on your memories. The subconscious is not capable of logic or reason. It creates these structures based on experiences – connected by emotions – rather than on reason or logic.

So what does that have to do with back pain?

Well, if you’re suffering from back pain and can’t find an anatomical reason behind it, it’s time to look at your current circumstances. Something is wrong, yet you can’t figure out what.

It’s time to look at those memories.

FasterEFT works because it uses those memories you created years ago to change your present circumstances. The problem is, there are so many memories, which ones do you choose from?

There is a simple, organized method for addressing all of the memories that are relevant to your current challenge – and using this method will mean that you may not even need to address some of these memories since they may have flipped before you even get to them.

Back Pain and Memories: The structure of memories

The techniques used in FasterEFT and memories training aim to de-mystify what memories are, how they are formed and how you can re-write them to remove the source of the pain.

Whatever your problem may be right now, it’s only the effect.

The cause is a part of a deep and complex structure buried within your subconscious mind. It’s like the foundation of a building, it supports the entire structure built above it.

Your memories are part of that foundation. The building itself is your life and what you’re experiencing now.

It’s important to remember that the subconscious is not capable of logic or reasoning; it just stores all the information it gets through our senses as facts. It then creates the structures of problem-based on experiences – connected by feelings – rather than on reason or logic.

“Can Letting Go of Things in My Past Really Heal Physical Pain?”

A client who was experiencing back pain was doubtful that letting go of past experiences could heal her back pain since the pain was physical and very real.

The Brain is the Body and the Body is the Brain

The brain stores the trauma from experiences in the body. It takes previous pain and uses it right now to amplify your current pain.

Let’s look at the housecleaner. Her pain is likely being amplified by pain in her past. Perhaps she used to clean her home as a child, and when she didn’t do it perfectly, she received beatings. When she cleans houses now and her back aches, the pain is amplified by the memory of those experiences as a child.

You could test that right now: say you’re sitting here, reading this article. Think about the first time you held your child (or your pet!). You probably feel emotional just thinking about it, right? You go back into the hypnosis of that moment (aka the autonomic response). Pain is the same way.

Think of something that bothers you and notice how you know it affects you. I promise you will feel some kind of sensation in your body. Maybe in your stomach, your neck, your back, or chest — or anywhere in your body.

When you change the record that is stored in the brain, it will automatically result in a change in the way your body feels.

The client I mentioned before cleaned houses for a living. Although the pain in her back was present even when she wasn’t cleaning, the actions of mopping and sweeping made the pain worse. She wore a back brace while she worked in order to try to relieve some of the pressure, and had also been seeing a chiropractor and doing exercises to try to reduce the pain. Before Robert tapped on her, her pain was at a level of 7 out of 10.

Aiming

Robert asked the client to notice how the pain felt — whether it was a sharp pain, a dull pain or pressure; and she clarified that it was a dull, steady pain that she could feel right across her lower back. He asked the woman to remember the first time she felt the pain, and she remembered waking up in the morning feeling it.

Tapping

Robert tapped on letting go of the helpless feelings and feelings of no control, the feelings that no-one supports her, the feelings of needing support, and the emotional hurts and financial stress — releasing and letting it all go.

The Emotional Link

After a few rounds of tapping, the pain had reduced to a level 2, and the client realized that she was carrying guilt for being angry with her mother. Robert asked her to notice the feeling of the guilt (aiming) and then tapped out those feelings, and the back pain disappeared.

If pain was purely physical, it would not change, regardless of changes in emotions, thoughts, and tapping.

The brain stores emotions in the body. This client had been carrying her feelings of guilt in her lower back, and when those emotions were released, the brain no longer triggered the pain in her back.

Notice that she did not need to know the emotional cause of the pain — she was initially aiming at the feeling of the pain itself; and as the tapping continued, her subconscious accessed the records it held that were connected to that pain.

As a result, the realization of the guilt came to her automatically.
